National Geographic Traveller describes the Faroe Islands as authentic, unspoilt and likely to remain so – that’s why we find these islands so special.

Situated halfway between Norway & Iceland and about 200 miles north of mainland Scotland, the Faroe Islands is an archipelago of extreme beauty. The landscape across the 18 islands is spectacular with lush valleys, green mountains, waterfalls, streams and black volcanic rock. Huge sea-cliffs form a backdrop to the call of screaming seabirds and a surprisingly large number of puffins between June and August.

The capital, Tórshavn, is one of the world’s smallest with a population of just 20,000 people. Potter about in the centre with its ninth-century grass-roofed buildings and multi-coloured wooden houses, browse its art shops and Faroese fashion boutiques and whatever you do, experience its internationally renowned culinary scene.
