Summer holiday in Sweden

In the wilderness of Östergötland, set amongst lakes, meadows and forest, resides an old vicarage now lovingly restored into a traditional small hotel and nature retreat.

This is the perfect spot for couples and families to spend time relaxing with the opportunity to experience a multitude of outdoor activities such as canoeing, cycling, horse riding, wildlife watching and walking – followed by a swim in the lake and a soak in the outdoor hot tub and sauna. With 12 marked walking trails to choose from there is a route to suit everyone, whether you’re a keen hiker, an occasional rambler, or a patient parent introducing an adventure holiday in the great outdoors to children for the first time.

Your countryside accommodation is Sommarhagen, a traditional Swedish red-house and former vicarage, which has been beautifully converted into a small hotel. Sommarhagen is a countryside haven offering lots of things to see and do either right on the doorstep or within the beautiful surroundings of Östergötland, and being within a few hours drive of Stockholm, it provides a secluded, but accessible, retreat.

As a grand finale we have included two nights in Stockholm, Sweden’s gorgeous capital city, with entrance included to Skansen, the city’s fabulous ‘living’ outdoor museum and nature park.

Day 1 | Stockholm - Sommarhagen (195 miles)
