This is a lovely family holiday, combining a stay on the coast with a stay in the countryside, and finally a stay in wonderful Copenhagen, the city.
Svendborg is located on the island of Funen and overlooks the Svendborg Archipelago, a gorgeous collection of islands just perfect for exploring on foot, or by bike or kayak. The town of Odense, the hometown of Hans Christian Anderssen is within easy driving distance and can be combined with a day tour featuring Funen's 'Chocolate Route'!
Sjølund is located on the island of Jutland and here, in the Danish countryside, is a lovely traditional, working farm. Spend lazy days relaxing on the farm, helping to collect vegetables from the garden and eggs from the chicken house - perhaps the farmer needs some help tilling with his tractor - children are welcome to try their hand at true sustainable farming. The village of Billund is within an hour's drive, and a visit to the truly wonderful LEGO House is an absolute must.
A final day in Copenhagen, Denmark's friendly capital city, with an included visit to Tivoli Gardens and Amusement Park - perfect!

Once on Funen you bear south towards the coast and your lovely hotel which sits at the gateway to Funen’s most beautiful southern archipelago, a unique area of 55 easily accessible islands in the Baltic. Driven miles approx. 104.
3 nights SVENDBORG - Hotel Christiansminde (BB)
Days 2 & 3: Fun on Funen!
There is so much to do from your hotel that choosing will be your biggest challenge! Perfectly located overlooking the Svendborg Sound your hotel has a garden and beach with direct access for taking an invigorating dip; additional outdoor activities include hiking, biking, kayaking or simply exploring easy coastal walks punctuated with a stop for tasty local, fresh food. The town of Svendborg is within easy walking distance by coastal cycling/walking route and has a good selection of shops and cafes and there are good number of boat and sailing trips into the archipelago. Your hotel also has an outdoor play area with swings and trampoline and indoor play area with pool table, table tennis and table soccer.
Funen is home to the town of Odense, the birthplace of the fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen; why not enjoy a stroll around the magical narrow streets of the town centre, and imagine where the inspiration came from for stories such as The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, The Princess and the Pea and many, many more. Alternatively, visit the romantic Egeskov Castle with its beautiful grounds, mazes, motor museum, Segway riding and woodland adventure playground.
Day 4: Jutland and traditional Danish Farm
Today you continue your journey, now taking the Little Belt Bridge across the strait from Funen to Jutland, Denmark’s great peninsula which stretches northwards towards Norway and southwards has a direct border with Northern Germany connecting it to the European continent. Once on Jutland it is only a short drive to Sjølund and your delightful, traditional Danish farmhouse.
4 nights SJØLUND – Vejstrupgaard (HB)
Days 5 - 7: Days on the farm, Billund and Lego House
This traditional working Danish farm is a wonderful place for children to explore and meet the animals; here there are cows, calves, pigs, chickens, sheep, rabbits and a dog. Poul, the farmer, invites them to try the tractor and provides greater insight into daily life on the farm. Food is homemade with bread and cake baked daily and delicious smeared or filled with homemade jam! Fruit and vegetables are from the vegetable garden and children will appreciate helping dig in the soil to collect supplies for the true ‘farm to fork’ experience.
With an hour’s drive, right in the centre of the village of Billund is an attraction they (and you!) will never want to leave – brand new Lego House! We love LEGO® House because it is all about LEGO®; playing, designing, creating, building, filming and generally having lots and lots of fun. This is a 12,000-square metre house filled with 25 million LEGO® bricks all ready and waiting for you. Explore the six experience zones; Tree of Creativity, Masterpiece Gallery, the Red Zone (creativity), the Green Zone (storytelling and role play), the Blue Zone (logic), and the Yellow Zone (emotion). Prepare to be amazed - this is LEGO® as you have never experienced it before!
Day 8: Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Today you leave for Copenhagen, Denmark's wonderful capital city. Retrace your route via Funen, back to Zealand and Copenhagen. En-route you will pass the town of Roskilde which is definitely worth a visit for the splendid Viking Ship Museum, where you can even take a ride in a replica Viking Ship! Leave your hire car at the car hire office in Copenhagen and check-in to your centrally located hotel.
2 nights COPENHAGEN - Tivoli Hotel (BB)
Day 9: Tivoli Gardens and Amusement Park
We recommend you pay an early visit to Tivoli Gardens today, leaving you with plenty of time during the afternoon and evening to explore the remainder of Copenhagen including the much photographed and picturesque old harbour area, Nyhavn. A bit further along the quayside and overlooking Copenhagen's impressive Opera House on the opposite side, you will find a serene mermaid, sitting on a rock, overlooking the sea...
Tivoli Gardens is perhaps Denmark's most famous attraction, in fact one of Scandinavia's most famous attractions...and rightly so! This beautiful park was first openend in 1843 by Georg Carstensen and was inspired by parks and gardens he had visited whilst travelling. An earlier visitor was the writer, Hans Christian Andersen, who was inspired to write the fairytale the Nightingale, based on the elegant and exotic gardens. With many other amusement parks it is customary to buy a ticket which covers both entrance and rides, however at Tivoli many visitors to the park simply come to dine in one of the many restaurants, listen to a concert or just walk around the gardens. Those who wish to try out all the rides can upgrade to a Multi-ride ticket which gives access to many of the other attractions on offer. We have included your entrance ticket.
