Day 1 - Thursday
Arrival with Atlantic Airways. Transport from airport to hotel. Preview of program with local travel guide.
7 nights TÓRSHAVN - Hotel Hafnia**** or Hotel Tórshavn*** (B,L)
Day 2 - Friday
We drive from Tórshavn along the coast through colourful villages, crossing the 'bridge over the Atlantic', and continue to the northernmost village on the island of Eysturoy, Gjógv, known for its unique natural harbour and Crown princess Mary's bench. Among other things, you will see classic sea cliffs, the rock formations the Giant and the Witch, and the highest mountain on the islands, Slættaratindur at 882 metres. Lunch is served in cosy surroundings, and then the tour continues via the village of Funningur to the idyllic village of Saksun which lies picturesquely bound in a small fjord with high mountains on both sides.
Day 3 - Saturday
In the afternoon we take a boat trip to the Vestmanna bird cliffs. We then drive to Tórshavn via a mountain road to the village of Vestmanna where we sail out to the bird cliffs and through several sea caves - a fabulous experience - remember your camera! En route back to Tórshavn we make a stop at an old viking farmstead in the beautiful and quaint village of Kvívík.
Day 4 - Sunday
Day tour to the historic island of Sandoy, one of the most unspoiled islands where you can still experience the old, Faroese way of life. We drive from Tórshavn over the mountain to the Gamlarætt ferry harbour where we catch our ferry. On the sail across the sound we enjoy the views of Hestur and Koltur. The guide tells us about the sagas from the island - some captivating stories. Experience a church visit, fantastic view point, small villages, and bird cliffs. Pack lunch enjoyed en route. Before returning to the hotel we visit the cultural centre of Kirkjubøur.
Day 5 - Monday
Walking exploration in the old city quarter in Tórshavn, Tinganes and Reyn with its small alleys and charming houses with grass roofs. The local guide will tell you stories about the past and present. You might meet the Prime Minister, or one of the William Heinesens - Lost Musicans. The tour also goes by the Cathedral and its cosy adjacent neighbourhood, Vágsbotn, with its many boats. Here you can see how important the sea and fisheries are to the local habitants. The tour ends with lunch. After the tour, on your own, you could visit the National Faroese Museum.
Day 6 - Tuesday
We drive from Tórshavn towards the most northerly island. From the village of Leirvík we enter the sub-sea tunnel which was decorated by local artist Tróndur Patursson. On this tour we will experience the islands of Borðoy, Viðoy, and Kunoy. The nature is breathtaking, and is dominated by high and steep mountains. We explore the second largest village of Klaksvík, one of the most important villages inside the fishing industry. We also visit the Christians Church. Lunch is served on the tour.
Day 7 - Wednesday
By ferry from Tórshavn we sail to the green island of Nólsoy. Take a walking tour with a local guide through the village and experience the unique attractions that can only be had on Nólsoy, like Rowing Ove's boat, Diana Victoria. In 1986 Ove rowed alone from the Faroe Islands to the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. On your own you can walk to the top of the island which provides the most beautiful panoramic view over Tórshavn and adjacent islands. Return by ferry to Tórshavn.

Transport from your accommmodation to the airport. Departure with Atlantic Airways.

Hotel Hafnia ****
Situated in the heart of Tórshavn, Hotel Hafia is within ideal walking distance of the harbour and the historical part of town. All rooms are ensuite and nicely furnished, complete with telephone, radio, hairdryer, minibar and wireless internet. This hotel has great facilities including a restaurant, cafe, bar, sauna, and a fabulous roof terrance from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole city.
Hotel Tórshavn ***
Hotel Tórshavn has a fantastic central location with a stunning view of the harbour in the front and the Town Hall Square in the back. The hotel has a cosy atmosphere, with 43 rooms equipped with all necessary aneminities including en suite bathroom. The restaurant "hvonn brasserie" is on the first floor and serves great food, including local dishes. On the ground floor is a café & bar which if you're looking for a quick bite to eat or a place to relax on an evening.
The average group size of this tour will be approximately 10 people which is a great size for making friends and getting to your tour guide, however, you can expect less or slightly more. The tour will also operate with just two people.
The Faroe Islands have 900 kilometres of good roads. Most have two lanes and are paved. 17 of the 18 islands are connected by bridges, land bridges, ferry and/or helicopter.
We recommend that you bring warm clothing and a rain coat. Rubber boots or sturdy shoes are a necessity. Remember your camera and bincoculars.
