Arctic Retreat comprises a main building - housing the restaurant and lounge - and individual log cabins of an extremely high standard. Each log cabin has a living room, bedroom and bathroom with shower and WC, a private outdoor hot-tub, full length picture windows and a verandah facing north - perfect for watching the Northern Lights (weather permitting).
A stay at Arctic Retreat is all about quality time - relaxing in front of a roaring fire, soaking in your private outdoor hot-tub, enjoying delicious, organic, local food, exploring your winter wonderland surroundings by snowmobile, dog-sled and snowshoe and rejuventating mind and body. The isolated location of Arctic Retreat also makes it a fantastic spot for viewing the Northern Lights.
This holiday suits couples, friends and families, either as individuals or as a small-group gathering, as cabins may be reserved individually or collectively for exclusive private stays.
Day 1 - Reach your Retreat
Your flight arrives into Luleå Airport. You will be met on arrival by a representative from Arctic Retreat and transferred by mini-bus or car to the resort (duration approx. 60 minutes). This eco-lodge has a back-to-nature feeling with delicious home cuisine and warm hospitality in a beautiful river side setting. Sheltered by large trees, the traditional and luxuriously decorated log timber cabins offer an escape to another world. Check in to your log cabin. Dinner is served in the restaurant at 1830.

Day 2 - Snowmobiling & Relaxing
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the restaurant before your guide arrives to take you on your included snowmobile safari - see right for further information.
Return to Arctic Retreat for an outdoor lunch with your hosts, with the remainder of the afternoon free to indulge yourself with a warm dip in your private hot-tub. We can’t think of a better way to unwind and relax before dinner...
Day 3 - Husky Dog Safari
Breakfast in the restaurant before your guide arrives for your included husky-dog safari - see Departure Dates & Prices tab for more information.
Return to Arctic Retreat for another outdoor lunch with the option to add an Arctic Senses Swedish Massage session to your stay - enquire for further details.
Day 4 - Homeward Bound
Transfer to Luleå Airport after breakfast for your return flight home.

Snowmobile Safari including Fika
Guided tour by snowmobile along the frozen Råne River passing through the forest landscape with all its different characteristics, from moors to thick snow-covered pine forests. Eventually reach the nearby high mountain with a spectacular view over the river valley, here we make a stop at the wind shelter for fika (hot drink and cake). Chance of seeing reindeer and other wildlife. Trip includes two people per snowmobile - one driver and one passenger - with the opportunity to swap around midway. Supplement to drive your own snowmobile £ . Duration of trip is 3 hours including the stop for fika.
Husky-Dog Sled Safari including Fika
Guided tour by dog-sled into the pristine wilderness, over frozen rivers, marsh lands and forest - a distance of approx. 15 kms. Stop to rest (you and your dogs!) for Fika. Your guide will provide lots of information regarding the locality and nature and provide you with an insight into life in this remote Arctic region. Return to the dog kennels to take care of your dogs - making sure they have plenty of cuddles - before returning to Arctic Retreat. Trip includes two people per sled - one musher and one passenger - with the opportunity to swap around midway. Duration of trip is approximately 3 hours including the stop for fika.
Northern Lights Snowshoe walk
An evening snowshoe walk to try and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. You will be kitted out with thermal overalls, snowshoes and a head-lamp. Even if the Northern Lights are elusive this is a great tour with plenty of time for star gazing and storytelling by the guide. During the tour you will also stop for outdoor fika. Duration of trip is approximately 2 hours.

Visit a Sami Family
A tour to Flakaberg along the Råne River valley to visit the Eriksson family. See their reindeer and hear about Sami life. Lunch included.

A tour by snowmobile sled into the Råne River valley to hopefully catch a glimpse of moose who have migrated to the area in seek of food.
Duration: 3 -4 hrs. Price: £220 pp
Drill your hole in the ice and try to catch your fish with lure and line. Perhaps you'll catch an extra course for dinner! Also enjoy beautiful nature all around the frozen lake.
